On Sunday, March 7th, 2021, Celtics Forward, Jayson Tatum will start in his very first NBA All-Star game, replacing the injured Kevin Durant, as he was originally selected as a reserve. Tatum will now join Kyrie Irving, Bradley Beal, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid as the East starters. With Tatum only being 22-years-old, this will be his second straight All-Star game.

What led to the NBA’s decision: “According to [the] NBA rules, an injured All-Star Game starter is replaced in the starter pool for the NBA All-star Draft by the All-Star reserve from the same conference and of the same position group who received the highest ranking in the voting for All-Star starters.”

The 22-year-old All-Star is averaging 25.2 Points, 7.0 Rebounds, and 4.4 Assists this season, and is currently playoff-bound, as the Celtics are sixth in the Eastern Conference. This is his third season in the NBA, as well as being a member of the Boston Celtics. From being the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft to starting in an All-Star game in just his third season, Jayson Tatum is destined for greatness.

Don't forget to tune in at 8 pm on March 7th to watch Jayson Tatum and the rest of the All-Stars play in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game.
