Anthony Davis Leg Injury — What Does this Mean for the L.A. Lakers Title Chances?!
The Los Angeles Lakers title chance looks a lot different than it did two days ago. On Sunday, February 14th, 2021, Lakers forward, and seven-time NBA All-Star, Anthony Davis, strained his calf in a loss to the Denver Nuggets. A week prior to Davis’s injury, Davis missed two games after being diagnosed with right Achilles tendinosis, a chronic tendon aliment.
On Monday, February 15th, 2021, Davis underwent an MRI, which would then determine this diagnosis. Since then, it has been reported by Adrian Wojnarowski (via. Twitter) that Davis tendinosis has been experiencing “some swelling”. Davis will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks, to determine whether or not he will be able to return to the on-court action this season or if it will be a season-ending injury.
As the Lakers Organization handles Davis's injury, their title chances do not look promising. With an aging LeBron James, 36, and an injured Anthony Davis, the Lakers are not a title contention team. A LeBron James-led team that had zero current all-stars has only made the NBA finals one time, and that was in 2007. LeBron will look to repeat history if his co-star Anthony Davis cannot continue this season, and help lead the Lakers to a repeat, and their second finals appearance in 10 years.
